And the Needles Were Flying!

About once a month I get together with a couple of friends for a stitch day.  It is a truly wonderful day filled with good food, good friends and usually a good amount of stitching.  Last week, when we met at Suz’s house, both Barb and I worked on our Case of the Secret Garden Mystery Inklingo project.  We both stitched on Clue 5 and our needles were just flying … in between nibbles on those awesome cookies you see in the picture:

Stitch-DayBarb is very organized with a notebook for all the clues and this cute box for her cut fabric and stitched units:

Barb's-OrganizedI’m keeping my printed clues, freezer papers and fabric in a pink box from COSTCO (every time I see COTSG – I think COSTCO… do you?).  And I use this cute travel sewing bag (stitched by my friend Linda Sue):

My-organizationRight now my travel bag has the COTSG units I’m working on, scissors, thread, pin cushion, etc.

COTSG-Travel-sewing-bagWith all those flying needles, you’d think I would have gotten more done on Clue 5, but…well…. I did get these 6 units completed:

Some-of-Clue-5-arcsIt is lots of fun to see these come together – I can’t wait to see what the final result will be.  That’s why I love these mystery quilts!

Speaking of mysteries – the final clue for the Carol Doak Mystery Quilt was given this week.  Maybe this is why I didn’t get much done on COTSG – because my sewing machine needle was flying to put all the blocks together.

Completed-quilt-topI love how it turned out!  And I’m off to the quilt shop tomorrow to look for some backing fabric.  I’m thinking fun and floral for the back to liven it up a bit…
