This morning, just as I was getting ready to leave for work, the dogs alerted us that there was something unusual in the backyard. It was a flock of wild turkeys – or is that a gaggle, or a herd, … whatever. There were at least 5 or 6. One was very large, one medium and a couple of young ones. The large one was on the fence and a young one was inside the fence. We have woods and the creek out beyond the fence. The young one didn’t seem to know how to get out the backyard.
We tried to get a picture of the one on the fence but she moved off into the woods when we opened the door. You could tell the young one was upset – “mama mama, I can’t get out – don’t leave, wait for me!” David went to open the gate for him, but suddenly he realized, “oh, that’s right, I can fly!” and he took off.
What fun to live out in the country where we can see wild turkeys at breakfast! I love it!
