December Blocks of the Month – Done!

I finally got around to working on the December blocks of the month.  Yes, they came out weeks ago but other stitching (like Christmas gifts) took a slightly higher priority! But the last few days have been tremendously calm around my house so it was time to sew!

This is the last block for the Barbara Brackman Dixie Diary Block of the Month.  So I have all twelve blocks done but haven’t decided how to set them yet.  Here is the December block called Turning Yankee.

DD---1-through-12I don’t think I have enough of any one of these fabrics for sashing.  So I may have to use them all – maybe a stripe of pink and brown with a 4 patch as a corner stone between blocks.  Or maybe turn them on point and put some solid blocks in between (with appliqued hearts?).  Well, it will certainly be fun to figure out!

The other block of the month is Carol Doak’s Scrap Scramble.  December is the fourth month in this block of the month.  There is more than one block in this block of the month!  A big star with some additional side blocks:

DecemberI’m trying to use mostly 1930’s reproduction fabric for this project.  The dark blue is more of a Civil War reproduction but it did highlight the other blues in the block:

Happy New Year, y’all!!!
