Threads of Memory BOM and Dixie Diary Done

Well, will this crazy weather ever end?  Spring sprung right back into winter.  81 degrees on Saturday and sleet and snow yesterday with 12 degrees this morning.  Ugh!  At least it’s warm in the sewing room!

The 2nd block for Barbara Brackman’s Threads of Memory block of the month came out a week or so ago.  Yesterday I selected my fabrics and today I stitched the block together:

Threads-of-Memory-2---MerceThe block is called Mercer County Star and Barbara recalls in her blog the story of Susan Lowe Wattles in the 1830’s and 1840’s.  I love the star within a star pattern!  Lots of fun selecting the fabrics and the block, even though it looks complex, was pretty simple to put together.  Check the Threads of Memory Flickr site for more interpretations of this block.

I have also been busy finishing up the Dixie Diary block of the month (found on the same Barbara Brackman blog).  I’m giving it as a birthday gift and wanted to get it off in the mail this week. Here it is:

Dixie-Diary-CompleteAnd here is the label.

Dixie-Diary-LabelThe graphic was provided on Barbara’s blog, I just added in the personal details.

I have all kinds of quilting activities this week!  Applique group tomorrow and the Dallas Quilt Show on Friday, with lots of little projects to work on in between.  What a fun week!  I hope you have a fun week too!
