JSS “Trash to Treasure” Bee Day

March bee day is this week!  Woohoo!  But I still haven’t posted pictures from the absolutely fabulous February bee day.  We had so much fun!  I laughed so much my jaws hurt – really!

The February bee day was at Judy’s beautiful home – thank you so much Judy, for being such a wonderful hostess!  Your and your home are truly a treasure.

And treasure was a theme of this bee day.  Judy had on display some sewing and quilting memorabilia from her mother.

Judy-treasure-1Judy-treasure-2We all enjoyed looking at these treasures.  As well as the treasures found in the kitchen:

everybody-in-the-kitchenHave you ever noticed that everyone loves to crowd into the kitchen during a party?

Eventually we all settled down to play “Trash to Treasure.”  If you wanted to participate you found lovely (and maybe not so lovely) items in your stash and packaged them up in a cute (or maybe not so cute) box.

treasuresThrough some method (Sally?) it was determined who went first, etc.  And just like a Chinese Auction at Christmas, you may get to keep what you open or it may be stolen down the line.  The third person to have the treasure got to keep it.  So first up was Linda J.  Funny thing is, Linda had almost everything stolen from her!  (Actually I ended up with this awesome box!)

treasure-Linda-JNow… I don’t have pictures of everybody opening their treasure.  I’m sorry, but I was laughing too hard!  But here are some:

Mona… I don’t remember what this was of if it was stolen….

treasure-MonaLynda H – I think she stole this box of yummy fabric and looks like she’d bite anyone who tried to steal it from her!  She seems to be saying “go on, make my day…”

treasure-Linda-HSuz – this looks like something of a mess (although that thread holder could be handy).

treasure-suzLinda J – again.  Really, this gal is the funniest ever!  And I believe this “treasure” contained a very large quantity of purple Crown Royal bags – and they came from Sally!!!!

treasure-linda-j-againAnd speaking of Sally – here she is on the prowl to steal someone’s treasure:

SallyWe all had a great time with “Trash to Treasure!”  While we were having a ball with the treasures, Mark (Barb’s hubby) was sharpening our scissors!  Wow!  My old scissors are now so sharp – they are scary!  Thanks Mark!

Mark-sharpens-scissorsAfter lunch we commenced with show and tell.  First up was Lynn with her feed sack bag, how cute is that?  If I remember correctly (and it has been a month) the handles and lining came from a Salvation Army bag that was the same size.

Show-and-tell-Lynn-Feed-SacLynn also brought this super cute quilt:

show-and-tell-Lynn-quiltMona brought a thread art quilt that I think she made in a workshop (again, it has been a month).  Beautiful work, Mona!

Show-and-tell-Mona-thread-aI brought my elephant quilt (called Ele-funky).

show-and-tell-me-elephantsAnd a bowl made from a pattern by Aunties Two Patterns called Camden Bowls.  Judy and I looked over the details:

show-and-tell-fabric-bowlJules showed us this work in progress last month. I loved how it has turned out!

show-and-tell-julesLinda J brought this pretty Christmas quilt.  It looks like she threw it down on the floor for all to see…

show-and-tell-Linda-JLinda also brought this Christmas table runner.  I love the curvy border – from what I understand there was real math involved!

show-and-tell-LInda-J-tableDede’s show and tell is this pretty quilt.  Is this a Chinese lantern pattern?  I don’t remember?

show-and-tell-dedeBarb quilted this churn dash herself.  Can you find the block that’s not quite right?show-and-tell-barbBarb also quilted this Christmas quilt up at Pam’s during a visit in January!  We miss you, Pam!!!

show-and-tell-barb-christmaSo much fun with Trash to Treasure and Show and Tell – what wonderful friends we all are.  Here are a few more pictures to share of these beautiful ladies.

  1. What a great day! Nostalgic day for sure and we all loved it. I loved the fabric exchange. It seems like there is no end the “the first time” experiences when it comes to JSS Bee gatherings. Thanks for taking time to post pictures Cookie!!
