Blessed Rain

Yesterday it rained!  And our over 100° streak finally ended.  It ended at day 40 – the record was 42 days in 1980.  I’m glad we didn’t make the 42 days!  Let’s let that record stand in the 1980’s – that’s where it belongs.  This one cooler day gives us hope of more to come!  And the rain, although not a lot, was a blessing.  It smelled delicious.  I wish we had online smell-o-vision, so I could share it with you.  How about a few pictures instead?

I was working on my Farmer’s Wife Quilt blocks yesterday afternoon when I heard the rumbles of thunder.  I ran outside with my camera and the clouds were building:

We hadn’t even seen real clouds in months!  The dogs and I sat on the patio and waited for the rain.  First a few patters on the patio disappeared into steam but the rain soon cooled the concrete off:

Eventually we had enough to wet down the patio (and Maggie’s tricycle) completely:

Too soon, it stopped.  But it was wonderful while it lasted!

Have a great weekend, y’all!
