Civil War Saturday

If it’s Saturday it must be time for the Civil War Block of the Week.  I am following Barbara Brackman’s Civil War Quilt blog which commemorates the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War with a weekly block and a nice bit of Civil War history.

This week’s block is called Confederate Rose.  According to the blog, the Confederate Rose is actually a hibiscus.  The fabric line I am using for this project is Neesha by Sentimental Studios for Moda and there are no roses or hibiscus, but there are other flowers from which to choose.  I think this flower looks like a chrysanthemum:

So I guess it’s my Confederate Chrysanthemum 🙂  More fun and games with Y seams but I’m getting more comfortable with them.  Be sure to check out the Civil War Quilt Flickr group for more images of this week’s block.

While I’m stitching and blogging this afternoon, I’m listening to my favorite TCU Horned Frogs play Air Force up in Colorado.  I don’t have the TV station the game is on, so I’m listening over the internet.

Have a great weekend, y’all!

  1. Hi came across your blog while looking for neesha fabrics. Used very similar cuts in a project working on 365 block challenge.😀 Also like Barbara Brakman fabrics
