Hovering Hawks Hit the Civil War BOW

I have always enjoyed watching the Red Tailed Hawks that we see soaring above here in North Texas.  They are beautiful birds, flying so very high, eying the fields below for prey and then swooping down at amazing speeds!  This is week 39 of Barbara Brackman’s Civil War block of the week.  Each week we get a new block pattern and an interesting history lesson.  This week’s block is Hovering Hawks.

Here is my Hovering (Red Tailed) Hawks block:

With this project I have found that it is easiest for me to copy the block pattern information to a Word document and then print it out each week.  When I tried to print from the blog I printed way more than I wanted and don’t want to kill any more trees than necessary. I’m gathering quite a nice pile of block patterns:

I think I’ll pick up a notebook this week for these.  I will end up with a nice reference of wonderful blocks by the end of the year.

Be sure to check out the Civil War Flickr web site!  These very talented folks are sharing not just their blocks, but their encouragement and inspiration!

Have a great weekend!
