I am following Barbara Brackman’s Civil War Quilt blog which commemorates the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War with a weekly block and a nice bit of Civil War history.  We are on week 41 and the block this week seemed to be quite a challenge.  It is a pieced star block called Red, White and Blue Quilt.  Go to Barbara’s blog to see the five set-in seams in the block.  Yikes!

But I was fortunate enough to check the Flickr Civil War group first and saw Quilting Bear Gal’s link to a paper pieced version of the same block.  Thanks you, Donna! So this afternoon I whipped together my star while watching the Ranger game!
