Civil War BOW – 42 H is for Hospital

I’ve been following Barbara Brackman’s Civil War Quilt Block of the Week commemorating the sesquicentennial of the Civil War.  Each week Barbara includes a block signifying some portion or event of the Civil War as well as some related history.

We are on week 42 and the block this week is called H is for Hospital.  It seems that during the Civil War, a flag with a yellow background and a green H was flown above the field hospitals.  As Dustin on the Flickr Civil War group said, “What a gruesome place those hospitals must have been.”

Here is my H is for Hospital.

I understand that this block is also known as a Log Fence block.  I was certainly glad to have an easy block this week!  It seems I’ve got a lot of simultaneous projects going on!

Hope you’re have a great weekend and…

Go Rangers!!!
