Civil War BOW and a Quick Paper Pieced Tree

Today is week 50 of Barbara Brackman’s Civil War Block of the Week.  I have really learned so much.  My piecing has improved by leaps and bounds!  And the Civil War histories that Barbara has included in the year long commemoration to the sesquicentennial of the Civil War has brought to light many of the forgotten people with  their struggles and hardships, contributions and accomplishments.

This week the block is called Grapes of Wrath – it is recommended in the instructions to use purple but my grapes must be red as I have no purple in the fabric line I am using (Neesha by Sentimental Studios).

As a comparison here is the block from week 1 – Catch Me if You Can:

Not only has my piecing improved, but my photography as well!

I also wanted to share with you a quick little paper piecing project I found.  It was referred to on Quilting Bear Gals blog – she had a link to Bonnie Hunter’s Quiltville web site earlier this week – Holiday Freebie — Paper Pieced Tree!  The Internet can certainly lead us down many rabbit holes with some delightful results!

I think it would make a really cute mug rug or an ornament.  I may make several!

Have a wonderful weekend, y’all!
