Orca Bay Mystery Marathon!

I’ve been hitting the Orca Bay Mystery Quilt project pretty hard for the last week or so.  I was determined to finish this puppy by the end of January.  Well, I made it – just barely – but the quilt top is finished!

There are two things I love about this quilt.  I love the way the borders came out!

And I love the use of fabric stash that brings back many wonderful memories!

I must say, what I don’t love is there was a lot of bias and stretchiness in this project so my piecing felt sloppy and inaccurate as I brought the blocks together.  However, the end result is awesome!  I think Bonnie Hunter (Quiltville) is amazing for sharing this with us all – thanks Bonnie!!!

Now to figure out how I want to quilt it!

I’m having a “stitch day” with friends tomorrow – probably more eating and chatting than stitching!  Sounds like a great way to start the month of February!

  1. Congratulations on a beautiful quilt! Bonnie’s quilts are always a wonderful learning experience — and always end up being a beautiful quilt. You did a great job!
