Splendid Sampler Mania

Have you heard about The Splendid Sampler?  This online project began in February with twice weekly releases of free block patterns from wonderful well-known designers.  Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson seem to be the originators but there is a whole slew of contributing designers listed on their web site.

I hadn’t heard about it until our bee retreat a few weeks ago.  Sue H. had a bunch of cute little 6″ blocks up on the design wall and I couldn’t resist.

So last Wednesday I made blocks 17, 18, and 19.  I actually started with block 19, since it had just been released and all the pictures on Facebook were just too cute.  This block is called Measure Twice, Cute Once:

Block-19---Measure-twice,-cThat was easy so I made block 18 – Lina’s Gift:

Block-18---Lina's-GiftI posted the pictures on the Splendid Sampler Facebook page and the feedback was overwhelming.  I’m a sucker for positive feedback, so I made block 17 – Family Stars:

Block-17---Family-StarsA little bit more challenging.  Remember, this is a 6″ block.  The next block was coming out on Thursday, so I went to bed Wednesday night ready to whip out the Thursday block and catch up on a few older ones.  Well, block 20 was a doozy!  Called Nature’s Walk and so incredible cute, it was well worth the three days it took me to finish!

Block-20---Nature's-WalkI really need another project like a hole in the head, but this one is simply irresistible! I’m off to work on block 21!
