The Bear Creek Quilt Guild had their show Quilts Across America this weekend. What a great show! I went with my friend Lenelda and her mom, Millie. We had some rainy dreary weather outside but that made the warmth and beauty of the quilts inside that much more evident.
We all had our favorites – our “viewer’s choice”. This was one of my favorites. It is called Woodsong. The quilt maker is Lisa Wood and the quilter is Fran Perdue.
I think the quilting is amazing – here is a close up:
Lenelda and her Mom really liked Texas Autumn (quilt maker Jackie Cleghorn and quilter JaLonn Carter-Stanley). I think it reminded them of their Canadian roots.I also thought the applique in My Baltimore Album was simply stunning (quilt maker Racheal Morgeson, quilter Wanda Jones):
I just REALLY need to practice my needle turned applique more!!!
This Gorgeous Peacock (Joyce Bohan) was simply … gorgeous!
And then these Free Kittens (Carolyn Palone) were just too cute!
Not only cute but beautifully paper pieced – here’s a close up:
The show – Quilts Across America – had a special exhibit of quilts representing each state. Of course, Texas, My State was the most awesome! The quilt maker is Sandra Hardin and the quilter is Susan Corbett.
The Best in Show is just simply beautiful and very appropriate to the time of year … Vintage Valentines (quilt maker Kayleen Allen, quilters JaLonn Carter-Stanley and Kayleen Allen):
There were just so many wonderful quilts in this show, I couldn’t possible show them all to you. But I did want to give you a taste of a few of our favorites.
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend, y’all! I’m going to fire up the old Janome and work on some Just Takes 2 blocks!!!
